How It’s Made: Our Daily Bread Devotionals
Since its first publication in 1956, the Our Daily Bread devotional has been the primary resource for which Our Daily Bread Ministries is best known. Today, these daily devotionals are published and distributed in more than 50 languages… helping readers around the world go deeper into the life-changing wisdom of God’s Word.
Our Daily Bread Ministries recently shared a behind the scenes glimpse into the extensive process of producing 60 million booklets. Requiring 6.4 million pounds of paper and 58,000 pounds of ink, it’s no small feat! And that’s just the print edition!
As you know, Our Daily Bread content is also distributed in a variety of formats, including radio, podcast, email, and mobile app.
While these facts and figures are mind-boggling, this global ministry remains focused on celebrating each precious life that is reached … and the incredible men and women who make it all happen.
Saydee Bessman, a middle child in a family of ten siblings, grew up in Liberia, Africa. For the past 24 years, he has faithfully used his God-given skills to serve at Our Daily Bread Ministries in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on the print finishing team.
Of his role, Saydee recognizes,
“Getting the job here was a miracle. I love what I do, and I do it to bring glory to God! What I do here will impact life for all eternity.”
Stories like Saydee’s remind us that God is the author of life, and He allows us to be used in His grand narrative to redeem the world.
